About Our Shop

Joe Zito has been turning wrenches since grade school. He was exposed to motorcycles by his uncles and step-dad as a young boy and always had his hands in something with wheels and a motor. He spent a lot of summers riding his bicycle around town, trash-picking any old mini-bike, moped or dirt bike and working with what he had to get the thrill of hearing the motor come alive.

As Joe grew older he experienced his fair share of classic cars and various modern and vintage motorcycles. Once Joe built his custom '70 Triumph Trophy from the ground up, he took the machining, welding and mechanical skills he learned in high school shop class and applied them to the Triumph. Formerly a bicycle mechanic, he also utilized his wheel lacing skills to re-lace a new set of spokes and rims to the old hubs. As time went on, riding thousands of miles, Joe learned even more than he could ever imagine over the years, eventually working as a professional classic British bike mechanic and wheel builder with Classic Cycles LTD. The owner of that shop, Dave Shostkewitz, shared his wealth of knowledge and continues to support Joe as a mentor and friend. Joe has now restored several British machines as well as his personal '70 FLH Electra Glide and continues to build custom and stock classic bikes of many origins.

There is no reason a vintage machine can't be reliable or taken on long trips when the owner wants to. Much better electrical systems and carburetors are available today which are generally the main items to upgrade when a reliable classic bike is desired. Riding is the most important thing to Joe regarding motorcycles, therefore getting them to run flawlessly is the ultimate goal.
